Singer/Songwriter Kelsie May, has lived in the Eastern Kentucky mountains all her life. The vast number of superstars born and raised along Eastern Kentucky’s Country Music Highway 23 is astounding, this leading many to believe there’s something extra special about the hollers that surround the area. Kelsie May is yet another old soul to grace those hills and her fast success to stardom proves that.
Singing all her life, but not landing on a stage until 13, Kelsie May has already contributed remarkable light into the Country Music world. After being quickly introduced to Bernard Porter, president and founder of PCG Nashville, the nation’s leading artist
development company, she was invited to train at the coveted program in Nashville, Tennessee. “Kelsie is an incredibly gifted artist with an equally beautiful spirit. She’s learned from some of the greatest artists in the world and incorporated a piece of each one into her own unique sound and style. The combination is stunning. We feel very privileged to work with her and help hone her God-given talent,” states Porter.
Performing on the historic Wheeling Jamboree, being involved with Tunes for Tots with the Make A Wish Foundation, and having 3 chairs turn for her on the popular and Emmy award winning show, The Voice before even turning 16, proves to many that she is something special and is here to stay. Kelsie, ultimately choosing a position on Team Blake, has now performed right along side of acclaimed artists such as Jo Dee Messina, Jewel, Craig Campbell, Montgomery Gentry, John Michael Montgomery, Marty Stuart, Bucky Covington, Raelynn, and Eric Paslay. As well as going on tour with X Factor Season 2 Winner, Tate Stevens and country crooner, Ray Scott.
Since her successful run on the show, May has joined forces with industry veteran Bob Kinkead, CEO of the Kinkead Entertainment Agency, as well as grammy nominated, legendary country music songwriter and producer David Malloy to work on developing her and upcoming career. Malloy, who has 41 #1 hits to his credit, has worked with everyone from Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire to Julianne Hough and Billy Gilman.
While she may have a lot in common with other girls her age, she has distinctively unique dreams of her own. She has a deep desire to make a difference with her music and to be a positive role model.
“I’ve always hoped to be a light to everyone, but especially my generation. I want to advocate that it’s okay to go out do something that’s a little out of the ordinary, it’s actually more than okay to do something you love,” Kelsie says.
Kelsie considers herself very blessed and with already such a long list of acknowledgements, everyone can see why. As this is only just the beginning of a lifelong and beautiful career.
